During the meeting, held on the sidelines of the "Shanghai Cooperation Organization Plus" summit, Madbouly underscored the importance of TEDA's industrial zone as a successful model of bilateral cooperation.
The Prime Minister, who is representing President Abdel
Fattah El-Sisi at the summit, said the government would grant the company an
additional land area within the Suez Canal Economic Zone and is looking to
accelerate its development.
Madbouly emphasized that developing the TEDA industrial zone
is a priority for the Egyptian government, a point he also stressed in his
meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday. He added that Xi
affirmed his support for Chinese companies operating in Egypt.
Madbouly urged TEDA to attract more Chinese companies,
particularly in the renewable energy, electric vehicles, and water desalination
sectors. He also suggested establishing a timeline for developing the TEDA
industrial zone and proposed granting the company new industrial areas in other
cities like New Alamein and the New Administrative Capital.
For his part, TEDA Holding chairman Zhou Di Fu expressed
appreciation for the Egyptian government's support, noting the company's
significant achievements over the past 10 years. He said TEDA has attracted 200
companies, invested $3 billion, paid $300 million in taxes, and created more
than 10,000 jobs.
Zhou said the company is looking to expand its industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and highlighted its success in attracting foreign investment in various sectors, including energy and water desalination.
