El-Sherbiny chairs Tourism Development Authority board meeting

Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Sherif El-Sherbiny, chaired a board meeting for the General Authority for Tourism Development (GATD) to review the progress of tourism development projects. The meeting was attended by board members and officials from the Ministry of Housing, with some joining via video conference.

The board reviewed a quarterly report for June 2025 on the status of GATD projects, which include 569 main projects, 503 limited development projects, and 66 integrated development projects. The report also detailed completed and under-construction hotel capacities in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aqaba, Ras Sidr, and Ain Sokhna.

Discussions also covered the GATD's efforts to rationalize spending and an initiative to facilitate debt repayment. The board also received an update on the authority’s digital transformation project, which is set to be rolled out in two phases: the first to fully automate GATD's workflow, and the second to launch a trial version of an electronic platform.

El-Sherbiny also addressed the progress of preparing and updating master plans for tourist centers, including both existing and promising future locations.
