ACTA to add electric buses to fleet, expand taxi service in new cities

Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, chaired the ordinary General Assembly meeting for ACTA Public Transport Company.

During the meeting, the company's financial statements, final accounts, and the reports from the Board of Directors, the company's auditor, and the Central Auditing Organization were all approved for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2024.

The meeting also reviewed the company's efforts to expand its use of eco-friendly transportation, increase its fleet size, and continuously update its smart transportation systems and staff training to keep pace with technological advancements. The company's fleet was highlighted, which includes 50 buses (30 electric and 20 gas-powered) and 144 eco-friendly electric taxis. Passenger numbers reached 1.4 million in 2023 and 2.8 million in 2024. The company reported a net profit after taxes of EGP 47,427,187, with revenues totaling EGP 96,857,453 in 2024.

A summary of the company's key achievements for the period ending December 31, 2024, was also presented. This included providing transportation for participants at the 2024 Coptic Christmas celebrations, the second session of the New Alamein City Festival, the twelfth session of the World Urban Forum at the Al Manara International Conferences Center, the World Para Swimming Championships at the Sports City in the New Administrative Capital (NAC), the Zayed Charity Marathon in the NAC, and concerts held in the Green River area. The company also launched an internal transportation service for visitors at the Giza Pyramids.

The meeting confirmed that the company has contracted with MCV to purchase five minibusses to transport passengers from LRT stations and an additional ten electric buses to expand its fleet within the NAC. The buses are equipped with audible and visible station announcement systems to help passengers identify current and upcoming stops and routes. The new buses also have ramps for people with disabilities, electronic payment collection devices, cameras, and tracking systems, with all movements monitored by a central control center.

The report also covered the Capital Taxi service, which operates in the New Administrative Capital, Rehab, Madinaty, Mostakbal City, Obour, Badr, Hadayek Al-Assema, and New Cairo, with plans for future expansion into other areas. All taxis are air-conditioned and equipped with POS devices, cameras, GPS, and various electronic payment options, and their movements are centrally controlled by the company's dedicated control room.

Deputy Prime Minister Kamel Al-Wazir directed the company to continuously support its fleet with the latest buses, particularly electric ones, and to expand service areas to serve residential communities for NAC employees. He also called for an increase in the number of minibusses serving residents of Zahra Al-Assema and for an increase in the number of drivers to boost the frequency of bus and taxi trips, which would serve more areas and increase the company's income. Finally, he stressed the importance of providing all necessary support to employees and drivers to ensure the highest level of service for the public.
