Dollar price declined in Egypt on Monday

The US dollar recorded a limited decline against the Egyptian pound at the close of trading on Monday, August 4, 2025, amid continued calm in the foreign exchange market and anticipation of potential shifts in monetary policy.

Dollar exchange rates at major banks on Monday:

Central Bank of Egypt:

Buying: EGP 48.37   Selling: EGP 48.51

National Bank of Egypt:

Buying: EGP 48.40   Selling: EGP 48.50

Banque Misr:

Buying: EGP 48.40   Selling: EGP 48.50

Banque du Caire:

Buying: EGP 48.40   Selling: EGP 48.50

Commercial International Bank (CIB):

Buying: EGP 48.38   Selling: EGP 48.48

Bank of Alexandria:

Buying: EGP 48.40   Selling: EGP 48.50

This decline comes after a period of relative stability, supported by improved performance of the Egyptian pound, lower demand for foreign currency, and increased foreign exchange inflows, particularly from tourism and remittances from Egyptians abroad.

Market attention is now focused on developments in the currency market in the coming days, especially with the approaching meeting of the Central Bank of Egypt’s Monetary Policy Committee, which could have a direct impact on exchange rates and interest rate trends.
