Egypt's SCZONE seeks Singaporean port expertise

The head of Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) on Monday met with Singapore's ambassador to Cairo to discuss boosting bilateral cooperation, particularly in port management and investment, the SCZONE announced.

SCZONE Chairman Walid Gamal El-Din welcomed Singaporean Ambassador Dominic Goh at the authority's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. The two discussed investment opportunities within the SCZONE's industrial, logistical, and maritime port areas.

Gamal El-Din highlighted the SCZONE's strategic vision, which includes 21 diverse industrial and logistical sectors, offering numerous investment prospects. He emphasized that the integration of the zone's six ports on the Mediterranean and Red Seas with its industrial areas creates a crucial link between production and global markets.

The SCZONE chairman also expressed the authority's interest in cooperating with Singaporean institutions, particularly in port management. He noted ongoing discussions with the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE) to transfer Singapore's expertise in smart port management systems. Gamal El-Din underscored the importance of this collaboration for the SCZONE's digital transformation strategy, aiming to enhance governance, operational efficiency, and handling rates at its ports.
