The Ministry
of Housing, along with the Ministries of Irrigation and Tourism, will oblige
real estate companies operating on the Northwestern Mediterranean coast to
secure clearance from the committee before proceeding with any construction
activities.
The
five-member committee is tasked with reviewing project designs to ensure
compatibility with environmental standards. Its responsibilities include
preserving the shoreline, protecting the marine environment, and preventing
further coastal erosion, in an effort to avoid the recurrence of past
degradation incidents that prompted public complaints.
The
committee comprises representatives from the Ministries of Housing,
Agriculture, Irrigation, and Environment, as well as the Shore Protection
Authority. The group will assess engineering plans and master layouts to ensure
that upcoming developments do not adversely affect the natural coastline.
