El-Sisi reviews Sinai railway projects, Cairo Metro Line 4

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met on Sunday with Prime Minister Dr Moustafa Madbouly, Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Transport and Industry, and Lieutenant General Ahmed El-Shazly, Advisor to the President for Financial Affairs.

Presidential Spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy stated that the President reviewed the implementation status of major projects under the Ministry of Transport and Industry, particularly those related to the railway system. Highlighted projects include the Arish to Taba railway line and the completion of the Bir al-Abd to Arish line, which are expected to support development in the Sinai Peninsula and establish a logistics corridor linking the Red Sea to the Mediterranean.

The meeting also addressed developments in seaport infrastructure, given the strategic role of ports in national development plans. The discussion covered progress on the construction, development, and upgrading of Ras Sudr Port, Gargoub Port, Abu Qir Port, the Grand Port of Alexandria, the new El-Max Port, and the continued development of Sokhna Port, as well as the construction of Taba Port and development works at Damietta Port.

The Cairo Metro Line 4 and the high-speed electric rail project formed a key part of the meeting’s agenda, with a review of the latest implementation status.

The meeting further reviewed efforts to develop and upgrade industrial zones in Wadi El-Saririya and El-Metahra in Minya Governorate and in northern Fayoum, as part of national efforts to promote industrial growth in Upper Egypt and provide more job opportunities, especially in labor-intensive sectors such as spinning, weaving, and ready-made garments.

El-Sisi stressed the importance of completing all projects within the specified timelines and directed continued efforts to accelerate the establishment of integrated development and logistics hubs connecting production areas to upgraded seaports. The planned hubs aim to become major international ports with large capacities, integrated with the modern transport network of roads, highways, and railways, supporting Egypt’s transformation into a global hub for trade and logistics.
