Egyptian remittances hit $32.8 Bln from July 2024 to May 2025

The Central Bank announced today, Wednesday, that remittances from Egyptians working abroad saw a significant surge during the July 2024 to May 2025 fiscal year. These remittances climbed by 69.6%, reaching approximately $32.8 billion, a substantial increase from the $19.4 billion recorded in the same period last year.
Looking at the January to May 2025 period specifically,
remittances rose by 59% year-on-year, hitting around $15.8 billion (up from
$9.9 billion).
On a monthly basis, May 2025 remittances alone jumped by
24.2% year-on-year, reaching approximately $3.4 billion (compared to $2.7
billion). This marks a historical record for May inflows, never before achieved
in that month.
