The Minister welcomed Ahmed El-Houfy, the company's Managing
Director, and his delegation, emphasizing the importance of this meeting for
bolstering relations and exploring collaborative avenues to support and develop
medical services in Egypt.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the Ministry's spokesperson, noted
that discussions covered several critical areas of mutual interest. A primary
focus was on supporting continuous education programs for medical staff across
all levels and investing in human resource capacity building. These efforts are
expected to directly contribute to the growth of medical tourism in Egypt.
The talks also explored current and future cooperation
opportunities in the pharmaceutical field, including identifying and addressing
medicine shortages that Johnson & Johnson could help supply. The company
reiterated its commitment to assisting the Ministry in enhancing the overall
efficiency of Egypt's healthcare system and improving the quality of patient
care.
Abdel Ghaffar also highlighted a cooperation protocol
between Johnson & Johnson and the General Health Insurance Authority. This
protocol is built on three core pillars: continuous education in partnership
with international institutions, enhancing patient services, and supporting
scientific research. Further discussions delved into future collaboration
between the company and the Ministry's Medical Professions Development Sector,
aiming to advance human capabilities and elevate healthcare service quality.
The Minister also directed that Johnson & Johnson be
briefed on Egypt's National Health Strategy to ensure coordinated efforts for
optimal citizen service. Additionally, preliminary plans for the Global
Conference on Health, Population, and Development, slated for November, were
discussed.
Ahmed El-Houfy underscored the importance of this enhanced
cooperation in ensuring better health for Egyptian citizens, aligning with
"Egypt Vision 2030." He lauded Egypt's pioneering healthcare
advancements and expressed pride in representing Johnson & Johnson in the
Egyptian market, describing it as a global inspiration, particularly in areas
like breast cancer treatment. He affirmed the company's dedication to
supporting Egypt's efforts to improve its health services.
