The meeting was attended by Ambassador Nabil Habashi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; Moataz Zahran, Egypt's Ambassador to the United States; Ambassador Howaida Essam, Consul General in New York; and Ambassador Tamer El Meligy, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Consular Affairs.
Abdelatty welcomed the effective and active role of the Egyptian
community in the United States in strengthening bilateral relations between
Egypt and the United States, praising the vital role played by the Egyptian
community in supporting the national economy and Egyptian interests. He also
discussed the active participation of businessmen from the Egyptian community
in the United States in the Egyptian-American Economic Forum, which was held in
Cairo in coordination with the American Chamber of Commerce last May, as part
of strengthening economic, trade, and investment relations between Egypt and
the United States.
He also stressed that the Ministry attaches great importance to caring for Egyptians abroad and providing them with consular services. He reviewed the efforts made to develop services provided to Egyptian communities abroad, including the digital transformation of consular services and the launch of several new initiatives in cooperation with various state institutions. These initiatives aim to provide consular services quickly and easily to Egyptians abroad and overcome any obstacles they may face.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs also highlighted the state's commitment to maintaining constant communication with Egyptians abroad of all ages, highlighting the ongoing preparations for the sixth edition of the Egyptians Abroad Conference, scheduled for August 3-4. This conference serves as a platform for direct dialogue with communities and discussing their aspirations and proposals.
He also emphasized the importance of Egyptians abroad participating in the upcoming elections to exercise their constitutional rights.
He stressed the importance of adhering to the laws regulating travel, immigration, and residency in the United States, noting that failure to comply with these laws may result in legal consequences, including fines, residency termination, deportation, and bans. He noted that this commitment is the true guarantee for protecting citizens abroad and ensuring the safety of their legal status.
Habashi reviewed the details of the initiatives launched by the Ministry to serve the interests of Egyptians abroad and provide them with special benefits related to facilitating safe transfers from abroad through modern applications, facilitating the opening of bank accounts abroad, and providing housing units and agricultural lands with special benefits. He also highlighted initiatives related to education, granting Egyptians abroad preferential benefits at Egyptian universities.
He also reviewed the organizational aspects related to the sixth edition of the Egyptians Abroad Conference, which is scheduled to address issues of concern to Egyptians abroad and organize events for the second and third generations.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs noted the Ministry's commitment to receiving all suggestions and inquiries from Egyptians abroad, reviewing the most important communication mechanisms established by the Ministry across various social media platforms. He also urged citizens to register their information with diplomatic missions to facilitate communication with them.
He responded to inquiries from members of the Egyptian community participating in the meeting, promising to study all proposals aimed at improving services provided to Egyptians abroad.
