Jirian Project creates 250,000 jobs

Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly announced on Sunday that the Jirian city project, situated on the Sheikh Zayed axis, is expected to create 250,000 direct and indirect job opportunities.

This announcement followed his presence at the signing ceremony of partnership agreements for the development and launch of the Jirian city project. This collaborative effort between the state and the private sector took place at the Cabinet headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. Attendees at the ceremony included Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, Advisor to the President for Urban Planning, Colonel Dr. Bahaa El Din El Ghannam, Executive Director of Egypt's Future for Sustainable Development Agency, Engineer Tamer Nabil, Vice Chairman of Nations of Sky Urban Development Company, Yassin Mansour, Chairman and Executive Group of Palm Hills Company, and Engineer Amr Soliman, Founder and Executive Chairman of Mountain View Company.

Dr. Madbouly highlighted President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's recent call for private sector partnership in developing the New Delta region. He emphasized the monumental scale of the project, stating, "We are talking about 2.5 million feddans in the New Delta, equivalent to the area of 4 to 5 complete governorates in Egypt. Therefore, we are talking about an urban and developmental revolution by all standards."

He further elaborated on the integrated nature of the development, explaining that the project goes beyond mere agricultural expansion. "When we reviewed the project, we didn't just talk about agricultural lands, but rather integrated development that includes all aspects of development and construction for our beloved country," he said. This comprehensive vision includes a very large industrial zone, a logistical zone, and an urban component with new neighborhoods and cities designed to serve the significant population expected in the area, estimated to be no less than 2.5 million Egyptian families.

The Prime Minister announced the giant project on 1,600 feddans, envisioned as a key urban development hub to be completed within five years. He described it as a sustainable, smart, and eco-friendly initiative, uniquely utilizing a Nile River branch to serve the New Delta region. The plan involves developing previously undeveloped desert land on both sides of this branch for real estate. This project is part of a larger urban system that will eventually include cities and villages for all income levels, including youth and middle-income individuals.

He concluded by highlighting an integrated development vision that extends beyond agriculture, industry, or logistics to include tourism. With the Grand Egyptian Museum and Pyramids area just steps away, a key question has been the availability of sufficient tourist accommodations to meet anticipated demand. This project, located only 10 minutes from the Grand Museum and the Pyramids, provides a crucial part of the answer to that challenge.

With the completion of the New Delta project, Egypt is looking at a promising future and development by all standards, as five new governorates will emerge from the desert.
