Gold prices fell slightly in mid-trading Saturday

Gold prices in the local market experienced a slight decline during mid-day trading today, Saturday, May 31, 2025. The price of 21-karat gold, the most commonly traded among Egyptians, fell by EGP 5 compared to this morning's prices, reaching approximately EGP 4,600 for selling and EGP 4,560 for buying per gram.

This drop comes amid continued fluctuations in global gold prices, which have seen their first monthly loss in May 2025 due to mixed inflation data and renewed US-China trade tensions. Locally, market activity and purchasing demand also play a role in price movements.

According to the latest official update issued by the General Division of Gold and Jewelry at the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, gold prices in Egypt are as follows:

Gold Prices in today:

24-karat: EGP 5,251.43 per gram.

21-karat: EGP 4,595 per gram.

18-karat: EGP 3,938.57 per gram.

Gold Pound (21-karat): EGP 36,760

Global Gold Price: Globally, the price of an ounce (troy ounce) of gold today was around $3,289. Markets are closely monitoring developments in U.S. monetary policy and interest rate expectations, which are casting a shadow over the movement of the yellow metal.

Gold prices in the Egyptian market are in constant flux, moving up and down. This volatility is driven by several key factors: global shifts in gold prices, the exchange rate of the U.S. dollar against the Egyptian pound, and local supply and demand dynamics. Because of this, market participants are always looking for real-time updates.
