In a statement commenting on the recent thefts of cables from the East Nile Monorail Project, the Authority stated that these thefts were treated with utmost seriousness by the Authority, as the owner, and by Alstom, as the contractor.
The Authority explained that the perpetrators were arrested, and all necessary legal measures were taken to swiftly implement legal penalties. Several reports were filed with the Public Prosecution Office in this regard.
The Authority also affirmed its keen interest in combating these types of crimes and its close monitoring of the reports filed with the Public Prosecution Office until the perpetrators are sentenced.
The Authority urged citizens to avoid approaching the monorail track for their own safety and to protect themselves from the risk of death. Electricity has already been switched on along the project's route, and the necessary operational tests for the monorail trains are currently underway.
