Cabinet approves to amend timetable for El Araby Group project

Headed by Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, the Cabinet approved several decisions during its meeting today Wednesday. These included a draft resolution amending the timeline for the Elaraby Group for Industrial and Commercial Development project, which aims to establish and operate a factory for the manufacture and assembly of various manufactured and semi-manufactured household, electrical, and visual appliances and their components. The factory, which has been granted a Gold License pursuant to Cabinet Resolution No. 97 of 2022, is located in the industrial zone of Quesna City, Menoufia Governorate.

The approval came to complete the first phase of the project by the end of 2025 instead of the end of 2023, and to complete the entire project no later than the year 2030, instead of the middle of 2027, especially after the addition of two factories and utility projects in the project.

The Cabinet also approved the results of a study prepared by the Ministry of Finance (the Supreme Committee of the General Authority for Government Services) regarding Cairo Governorate's request to use the usufruct license system to renew the contract with Misr Entertainment Cities Company for the operation of the Wonderland Mall and Amusement Park in the International Garden in Nasr City, Cairo, for a period of 10 years. The Cabinet approved the decisions and recommendations issued by the Ministerial Engineering Committee meeting held on March 23, 2025, regarding assignment orders to companies or related to their increase to complete work. This is to benefit from investments already spent on 42 projects for the Ministries of Housing, Transport, Industry, and Higher Education and Scientific Research, provided that the requesting parties are responsible for ensuring appropriate pricing.

The Cabinet approved the General Authority for Land and Dry Ports (an entity affiliated with the Ministry of Transport) contracting with the agent of the German company Smith Detection, which manufactures security devices used in land ports, to supply and install spare parts and repair faulty devices at several land ports.

The Cabinet also approved the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company and the Emirati company K&K to complete the final studies for a project to export electricity from renewable energy from Egypt to Italy via a submarine cable. This comes as part of Egypt's energy strategy to maximize the generation, use, and export of clean electricity through electrical interconnection projects, particularly after the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) implemented numerous massive investments in developing and strengthening the electricity grid. It also contracted several renewable energy projects with various developers to purchase and inject energy into the electricity grid.
