Ahlan Ramadan Exhibition opens in Nasr City to boost food security

Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, alongside Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber and Ahmed El-Wakil, President of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, officially inaugurated the primary "Ahlan Ramadan" exhibition today Tuesday.

Located at the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDA) hall in Nasr City, the event marks a key step in the government's strategy to secure essential goods at affordable prices ahead of the Holy Month.

The exhibition serves as a massive retail hub designed to alleviate financial burdens on Egyptian families. It spans 3,500 square meters across two floors and opens for 10 days, from February 10 to February 19, from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

Approximately 120 major companies and producers participate in the exhibition, including a significant pavilion for the Holding Company for Food Industries. The price reductions range from 15% to 30% on strategic goods, meat, poultry, and traditional Ramadan products.

The inauguration was attended by high-ranking officials, including Ibrahim El-Segini (Consumer Protection Agency), Basil Rahmi (CEO of SMEDA), and Dr. Alaa Nagy (Holding Company for Food Industries).

Minister Sherif Farouk emphasized that the Ministry is expanding these exhibitions nationwide. He noted that alongside increasing supply, the Ministry is intensifying regulatory oversight to stabilize markets and prevent price gouging during this high-consumption season.

Governor Ibrahim Saber added that the Nasr City flagship is part of a broader provincial plan to establish similar outlets across all Cairo neighborhoods, ensuring high-quality commodities are accessible to every household.

In a move to integrate small businesses into the national supply chain, SMEDA CEO Basil Rahmi confirmed that the agency is participating with 30 distinguished clients. These small and medium enterprises specialize in food processing and packaging, offering high-quality competitive products that diversify the market's offerings.
