Gold prices in Egypt record EGP 6,800 for 21-karat

Gold prices in Egypt continued to react to global economic developments on Sunday, amid the local market’s sensitivity to international interest rate and inflation movements. 21-karat gold was priced at EGP 6,800 per gram, excluding craftsmanship fees.

Gold prices in Egypt today:

24-karat: EGP 7,771 per gram

21-karat: EGP 6,800 per gram

18-karat: EGP 5,828 per gram

Gold Pound: EGP 54,400

Global gold prices are influenced by the rise of the US dollar and declining expectations of interest rate cuts in the United States. Gold does not generate returns for its holders, making sustained high interest rates increase the opportunity cost of holding it and reduce demand. Meanwhile, a stronger US dollar adds downward pressure on gold prices.
