Accompanied by officials from the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA), the Minister reviewed surfacing work on roads surrounding the Magdi Yacoub Heart Hospital and Zewail City of Science and Technology. The project aims to improve traffic flow and ease access to these vital facilities.
The tour included inspections of paving works on the R4 and
R3 roads, the Zewail exit, and Horus Road. El-Sherbiny directed officials to
accelerate the pace of development, increase equipment and labor on-site, and
ensure the installation of proper warning and directional signage to match the
city's rapid urban growth.
The R4 Road project involves expanding the road into a dual
carriageway by adding a new one-way section and upgrading the existing 5.3 km
stretch, separated by an investment service axis. The project features new
lighting and landscaping. Additionally, upgrades in the hospital vicinity span
3.7 km with an average width of 60 meters, linking Zewail Road to the Sun
Capital area. A new road is also under construction connecting Oasis Road to
Zahret October—a strategic axis serving more than eight districts and the
Downtown area.
Officials from the Hadayek October Development Authority confirmed that several major projects are currently underway, with more slated for tender soon to enhance the city's vital transport corridors.
