The move comes as part of the Ministry of Transport’s ongoing development plan to enhance services for Metro and LRT passengers, supporting the improvement of this vital infrastructure that serves millions of citizens daily.
The initiative is expected to facilitate and expedite
payment processes, saving time and effort and reducing congestion at ticket
counters, especially during peak hours when passenger numbers increase. The
purchase and payment process now takes only a few minutes, as work continues at
full speed to provide the best automated services.
The step also reflects the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to
developing sustainable transport services for the public within the framework
of the digital transformation revolution and in line with Egypt’s vision to
modernize and upgrade transport infrastructure, introducing innovative
solutions.
It is worth noting that the NAT provides all available
modern payment methods across the three Metro lines and the LRT to facilitate
services for citizens. These include monthly and seasonal subscriptions,
e-wallet cards, TVM automatic ticket vending machines, single-journey tickets,
and Visa electronic payment at all ticket and subscription offices on Metro
Lines 1, 2, and 3.
