The meeting, attended by Manal Abdel Latif, Minister Plenipotentiary at the Egyptian Trade Representation Office in Dubai, focused on advanced food processing and the alignment of food safety standards.
El-Houby outlined the NFSA’s role in developing modern
legislative and regulatory frameworks designed to ensure product safety,
protect public health, and bolster consumer confidence while enhancing the
competitiveness of the food sector.
For her part, Dr. Zarooni detailed the UAE's mechanisms for
recalling products that fail to meet specifications and standards. She also
highlighted strategies for supporting food innovation and modern technologies,
emphasizing the need for flexible regulatory frameworks that balance market
access with safety and quality.
Both sides reviewed registration and accreditation policies
for new food products, as well as strategies to support future food industries
and strengthen food security.
The officials concluded by emphasizing the importance of continued institutional coordination and exploring future mechanisms for cooperation between Egypt and the UAE in the food industry sector.
