The meeting with the Chilean ambassador and officials from the state-owned oil and gas company ENAP Siptrol explored, for the first time, potential cooperation in mining, a sector where Chile has world-leading expertise.
Badawi highlighted Chile's experience in extracting critical
minerals like lithium and copper. He expressed Egypt's interest in partnering
to develop value chains for these minerals and pledged to provide all necessary
support to Chilean companies wishing to invest.
The discussions also covered ENAP's oil production
activities in Egypt, specifically focusing on accelerating work in the West
Amer area to increase output.
Ambassador Ebert affirmed his country's commitment to
strengthening political and economic ties with Egypt, noting the potential for
significant returns from future cooperation.
The minister also reviewed Egypt's strategy to diversify its
energy mix and boost renewable energy projects while continuing oil exploration
to increase reserves. This approach aims to reduce import reliance and enhance
the sector's financial stability.
At the meeting's conclusion, the ambassador invited the minister to attend Chile's National Day celebration in Cairo on September 17.
