Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi witnessed the arrival of the massive arm at Cairo Airport. It was air-freighted to Egypt aboard an Antonov transport aircraft, one of only four such planes globally capable of handling the colossal cargo.
The loading arm is crucial for connecting the
"Winter" unit to Egypt's national gas grid via the United Gas
Derivatives Company's jetty in Damietta. Its arrival paves the way for the unit
to begin operations as scheduled, ensuring enhanced readiness for natural gas
supply.
In a related development, the "Energos Force"
floating regasification unit is expected to reach Jordan's Aqaba Port this
July. This unit will serve as an additional emergency measure, bolstering
regional supply security during the high-demand summer season through the Arab
Gas Pipeline.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources stated these actions are part of a strategic vision aimed at improving the regional flexibility of the natural gas system, boosting regasification capabilities, and accelerating responses to any unforeseen circumstances. This ultimately ensures efficient and stable gas flow to vital sectors across the country.
