Testing showed the well is producing 40 million cubic feet of gas per day, matching earlier engineering studies. This initial well is part of Phase XI, which aims to add up to 130 million cubic feet of gas daily to the company's total output through a plan to drill three new wells.
This will significantly boost domestic natural gas
production, especially during the current summer, which represents peak
consumption. Additionally, it will reduce import bills and secure and diversify
natural gas sources.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources reiterated its commitment to strengthening partnerships with production companies, which it says will accelerate production activities and foster an environment for increased investment. This aligns with the nation's goal of enhancing its natural gas production capabilities and maximizing the use of local resources.
