Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly met yesterday, Sunday, with Minister of Social Solidarity Dr. Maya Morsi to review the details of calculating the economic cost of the numbers of refugees and immigrants residing in Egypt.

Presidential spokesperson Counselor Mohamed Al-Homsani, announced that the meeting addressed the estimated total cost incurred by the state for the care of foreign guests, refugees, and immigrants in Egypt. The review encompassed services provided across various sectors, the cost of bolstering health infrastructure to deliver medical services, and other forms of care.

During the meeting, the Minister of Social Solidarity highlighted the ministry's prioritization of refugee and migrant issues, citing their significant economic and social implications. The estimated costs of hosting these individuals are essential for guiding decision-makers, evaluating the impact on national and international indicators, and informing the development of policies that ensure adequate support for Egypt's hosting efforts.

Dr. Maya Morsi confirmed ongoing cooperation with United Nations organizations to determine the economic costs that Egypt incurs for hosting refugees and immigrants. Furthermore, she noted that a consensus has been reached on the standards used for cost calculation across all ministries and government bodies.
