Al-Mashat arrives in Brussels to attend EU Global Gateway Forum

Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, arrived in Brussels, Belgium, to participate in the second edition of the Global Gateway Forum 2025. The forum, organized by the European Union (EU) from October 8 to 10, brings together senior government officials, representatives of international financial institutions, and development partners from around the world. This year’s edition focuses on enhancing global connectivity amid ongoing economic and geopolitical challenges.

The forum features high-level participation from governments, financial institutions, the private sector, and civil society. Participants will discuss innovative strategies to expand Global Gateway investments in partner countries.

Dr. Al-Mashat’s participation reflects Egypt’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the EU and its development institutions. She aims to expand cooperation in the areas of green transition, development financing, sustainable infrastructure, and human capital investment, in light of the strategic relations between both sides. Her participation also coincides with preparations for the upcoming Egypt–EU Summit scheduled for the end of October.

The Minister’s agenda includes a wide range of bilateral meetings and high-level events. She will highlight Egypt’s recent efforts to enhance macroeconomic stability and advance economic and structural reforms. She will also take part in several key sessions within the forum’s agenda, including the official opening session, where the President of the European Commission will deliver remarks.

Al-Mashat’s schedule also includes bilateral meetings with senior officials from the EU and representatives of international financial institutions, including the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the French Development Agency (AFD). She will also meet with officials from the ministries of international cooperation in Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Germany, and Slovakia.

She will further participate in specialized thematic sessions focusing on investment in infrastructure and the green transition. She will also attend side events bringing together policymakers and experts to explore opportunities for cooperation between Africa and Europe within the framework of the Global Gateway initiative.
