The holiday applies to all employees subject to the provisions of the Labour Law (Law No. 14 of 2025).
Gobran clarified that employers may still operate on October
9 if work circumstances necessitate it. In such cases, employees are entitled
to receive double the daily wage in addition to their regular pay, or be
granted an alternate paid day off as compensation, following a written request
and in accordance with the law.
The Ministry of Labour issued Circular No. (19) of 2025 to
implement Article (129) of the Labour Law, aiming to standardize official
holiday dates across all state sectors to achieve a unified national and social
objective.
The Minister stressed that all central department heads and directorate managers within the Ministry must ensure the circular’s immediate and full implementation across all workplaces. Gobran concluded by extending his congratulations to all of Egypt’s workers and people on the ‘glorious October victories,’ and expressed hopes for continued security and prosperity for the nation under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
