The cabinet's media centre stated that the protocol aligns with presidential directives to localise the natural silk industry in Egypt and to later replicate the model across other governorates following its success.
The project is considered a key step toward reducing imports
and saving foreign currency. It is also expected to create direct and indirect job
opportunities and increase the income of farmers and workers involved.
The centre is slated to produce about 25 tons of raw silk
within four years and will supply raw material for silk-based industries,
including clothing, carpets, and certain medical products.
The government confirmed that all necessary logistical support and facilitations will be provided to accelerate the implementation of the project.
