Dr. Ashraf El-Begarmi, Head of the Sports Sector at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, affirmed the ministry’s support for the Egyptian Golf Federation in organizing distinguished international tournaments, highlighting its commitment to promoting sports across the country.

His remarks came during a press conference organized by the Egyptian Golf Federation, chaired by Omar Hisham, held at the Mena House Hotel near the Giza Pyramids. The event announced a series of major international golf tournaments in the coming weeks, attended by representatives from local and regional media outlets.

The conference was attended by Omar Hisham, President of the Egyptian Golf Federation; Dr. Ashraf El-Begarmi; Kim Koudowa, Director of the Asian Golf Tour; Zakaria Yehia Zakaria, General Manager of Bahgat Group (Dreamland); Ali Mohamed, Director of New Giza Golf Club; and Josh Rosh, representing Talaat Moustafa Group Golf.

El-Begarmi noted that since 2018, Egypt has hosted and organized more than 460 championships, including international and African tournaments across various sports. He emphasized that Egypt has become a prominent sports destination in the history of golf and expressed confidence that the sport will attract top professional players from around the world. He also thanked Omar Hisham and the federation’s members for their efforts in organizing these international tournaments.

Under the leadership of Omar Hisham, the Egyptian Golf Federation announced the organization of four major international tournaments in the coming weeks. The first is the 104th Egyptian Open Amateur Championship for Men at Dreamland Golf Club, which will be joined for the first time by the Egyptian Senior Open, bringing together multiple generations of golf players. The second is the Egyptian Open Championships for Juniors and Women Amateurs at New Giza Golf Club, reflecting the federation’s focus on youth and women’s golf. The third is the revival of the Egyptian Open, first held in 1921 and considered one of the most prestigious professional championships outside Europe. After more than 15 years, it returns this year and will be hosted at Madinaty Golf Club. Finally, the federation will launch a brand-new international tournament as part of the Asian Tour, designed to attract top international players to Egypt and further establish the country as a leading golf destination.
