Sisi, South Korea envoy discuss economic ties

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received South Korean President Park Beom-Kye's special envoy on Tuesday to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments, according to the official presidential spokesperson.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriate Affairs Badr Abdelatty and the Korean Ambassador in Cairo.

President Sisi received a message from Korean President Lee Jae-myung marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The message conveyed South Korea's appreciation for Egypt's support for peace on the Korean Peninsula and expressed the Korean president's desire to meet with Sisi soon, said Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson for the Presidency.

President Sisi, in turn, welcomed the Korean official and asked him to relay his congratulations to Lee on his election as president in June 2025. Sisi affirmed his aspiration to welcome the Korean president in Cairo soon to enhance bilateral cooperation across various fields.

The President praised the significant progress in Egyptian-Korean relations, particularly in recent years, which has established South Korea as an effective economic partner for Egypt. He also lauded the Korean experience over recent decades, which is reflected in the country's current development.

Sisi underscored the importance of Korean investments in the Egyptian market, stressing the state's commitment to continuing the economic partnership and expanding its horizons. He encouraged more Korean companies to explore Egypt's promising investment opportunities and benefit from its growing stability, competitive advantages, and free trade agreements with Arab and African nations.

The talks also covered regional developments. President Sisi reiterated Egypt's firm stance on the war in the Gaza Strip. He called on countries that have not yet recognized a Palestinian state to expedite this step, emphasizing its critical role in supporting the two-state solution as the only path to achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
