In line with the NFSA's plan to enhance oversight of the food manufacturing and domestic and international trade sectors, the General Administration for Factory Inspection conducted 104 inspection missions in cooperation with the Industrial Control Authority. These missions aimed to evaluate the compliance of food establishments with quality and food safety requirements.
The Administration for Control of Packing Stations and
Centers conducted 54 visits for examination, inspection, and accreditation.
Furthermore, the Administration issued 526 export permits for agricultural
products on behalf of 468 companies.
According to the report from the NFSA’s General
Administration for Exports and Imports, the total number of exported food
consignments reached 3,860 messages, amounting to approximately 185,000 tons,
from 1,300 exporting companies. These consignments included nearly 675 varieties
of food products, such as flour and cereal products, vegetables and tubers,
fruits, molasses (black honey), and various other food products.
Vegetable Exports: Sweet potatoes led Egyptian vegetable
exports for the week, totaling 11,000 tons, followed by various types of beans
at about 6,000 tons, and then potatoes with a total of 4,000 tons. The total
number of vegetable varieties exported was 32, amounting to 30,000 tons.
Fruit Exports: Pomegranates topped the fruit exports list
for the week with a total of 10,000 tons, followed by mangoes at approximately
8,000 tons, and strawberries totaling 6,000 tons. The total number of fruit
varieties exported was 35, amounting to 30,000 tons.
These exports were distributed across a large number of
international markets, with Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Yemen, and Spain among the
most prominent importing countries out of a total of 180 importing nations
during the week.
In terms of export outlets, Safaga Port ranked first in the
number of food consignments exported during the past week with a total of 570
messages, followed by Alexandria Port with 555 messages, and then Cairo
International Airport Port with a total of 440 messages.
To support food exports, the NFSA issued 940 health
certificates for export during the week, in line with the mechanism adopted
since the beginning of the year, ensuring product compliance with safety
requirements and boosting international market confidence in Egyptian exports.
The number of food consignments imported into the country
reached 2,130 messages, with a total quantity estimated at 310,000 tons,
imported by 875 companies. The imported varieties were diverse, including wheat,
soybeans, and various oils. Ukraine topped the list of exporting countries to
Egypt during the past week, followed by Russia, the USA, and Malaysia, out of a
total of 73 countries that supplied food products to the Egyptian market.
Alexandria Port continued to rank first in the number of
incoming food consignments with a total of 647 messages, followed by Cairo
International Airport Port in second place with 366 messages, and then Port
Said Port with 326 messages.
Regarding customs releases, 1,341 food consignments were provisionally released under custody (temporary release), while 422 messages were released under the fast-track release system.
