Al Wazir highlights strong demand for industrial land

Lieutenant General Kamel Al Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, held an extensive meeting with Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, in the presence of heads of city agencies, to discuss the status of industrial zone facilities.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of several companies implementing facilities in industrial zones, Dr. Nahed Youssef, Chairperson of the General Authority for Industrial Development, and leaders from the Ministries of Industry and Housing and Urban Communities.

During the meeting, the implementation status of the cities of New October, New Alamein, Sadat, New Borg El Arab, and 10th of Ramadan was reviewed, along with progress in electricity, water, and sanitation facilities.

Al Wazir stressed the need for city authorities to coordinate closely with utility companies. He called for intensified efforts and strict adherence to the specified timetables. This, he noted, will ensure the completion of utility works in preparation for a new industrial land tender scheduled for early December via the Egypt Industrial Digital Platform. He pointed out that demand for industrial land has risen significantly, with multiple investors often competing for the same plot. He emphasized that completing utility works is crucial to meeting industrial development needs, strengthening the government’s credibility with investors, and giving a strong boost to Egyptian industry as a driver of economic growth.

El-Sherbiny underlined that the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities places industrial development at the top of its priorities. He noted that he had recently met with the heads of city agencies and companies implementing facilities in industrial zones. During that meeting, they agreed to set specific timetables for completing the works. He stressed that the companies are committed to delivering the facilities in line with these schedules.

The meeting concluded with an emphasis on maintaining full coordination between the Ministries of Industry, Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, and relevant authorities. The aim is to ensure the swift completion of infrastructure works within the agreed timetables. This will help meet the growing demand for industrial land, enhance the investment climate, and support the state’s plans for sustainable industrial development.
