Petroleum Ministry, UK’s Harbour Energy discuss gas production plans

Engineer Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, met with Engineer Sameh Sabry, Managing Director of Harbour Energy for the Middle East and North Africa, to discuss investment opportunities in Egypt’s petroleum sector and the company’s plans to expand its activities in the coming period as part of its strategy to grow its business portfolio in Egypt.

Badawi emphasized that his recent talks with Linda Cook, CEO of Harbour Energy, clearly demonstrated the company’s strong interest in intensifying its gas exploration and production activities in Egypt. He affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to addressing any challenges facing partners in order to support production growth.

The discussions also reviewed investment opportunities available through the Egypt Upstream Gateway (EUG), which could attract the company’s interest in the near future.

Sabry outlined Harbour Energy’s investment plans and three-year work program, including its targets for additional production from its operations in Egypt. These include the Disouq  natural gas field in the Delta and its offshore concessions in the West Nile Delta, operated in partnership with the UK-based energy company BP. He reiterated the company’s commitment to expanding its investments in Egypt.
