The delegation included nine experts from the South African
Reserve Bank. Their goal was to gain and exchange expertise, while reviewing
international best practices. The visit also sought to understand the
operational model adopted by the CBE, including automation technologies,
workflow efficiency, risk mitigation protocols, and governance mechanisms. In
addition, the program covered knowledge exchange on research projects and other
currency-related topics.
Engineer Khaled Farouk, Deputy Governor for the Currency
Printing House Sector, said the visit reflects the CBE’s openness to
cooperation with African central banks. He added that the facilities in the New
Administrative Capital, particularly the Printing House and the Currency
Center, meet world-class standards.
Dr. Naglaa Nozahie, Advisor to the Governor for African
Affairs, noted that visits from African central banks and joint events in
banking and regulatory fields are part of Egypt’s strategy to strengthen
continental cooperation. She highlighted that the delegation included a
distinguished group of experts and expressed confidence in expanding future
collaboration with the South African Reserve Bank.
Delia Sampson, head of the South African delegation,
expressed appreciation to the Egyptian side. She described the visit as an
unforgettable experience that provided valuable insights and knowledge. She
added that the exchange is expected to strengthen bilateral cooperation across
key fields, benefiting both countries and their national economies.
The program included a full tour of the Printing House and
another of the Currency Center. Officials from the CBE’s African Cooperation,
Printing House, Banking Operations, and Security sectors accompanied the
delegation.
