GAFI invites German companies to localize textile machinery technology

The Egyptian General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) participated in the "Textile Industry Technology" conference organized by the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

The conference featured 18 German companies specializing in innovative, high-quality technologies, products, and services for the textile machinery sector. They showcased the latest advancements in German industrial technology and innovation.

Representatives from the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, and the German Engineering Federation also attended.

Hossam Heiba, CEO of GAFI, stated the conference reflects a shared belief in the potential of Egyptian industry, especially in the textile sector, which represents a cornerstone of Egypt's economic history. He emphasized the goal of developing and rebuilding the industry to meet modern demands.

Heiba highlighted that the Egyptian government has prioritized the textile and ready-made garments sector, aiming to make Egypt a global hub for the industry. He stressed the pivotal role of German companies and their equipment in this industrial transformation, citing their ability to provide digital and technological solutions for achieving high standards of quality, efficiency, and sustainability.

He called on German companies to localize machinery manufacturing technology in Egypt, leveraging the country's attractive investment environment. He mentioned key incentives, including the Golden License, which grants all necessary permits in a single approval, and various tax and non-tax investment incentives.

Heiba also noted Egypt's appeal as a leading export platform, connected to more than 1.5 billion consumers through extensive trade agreements with Africa, Europe, the United States, and other markets. He underscored Egypt's strong economic foundation, including a skilled workforce and robust infrastructure.

Kathrin Jennika, representing the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, said the conference was a crucial step in enhancing the exchange of expertise between Egypt and Germany in the textile industry. She added that Egypt has the strong components and promising opportunities for successful partnerships that can drive joint development and progress in this vital industry.

The German delegation reviewed their expertise in textile machinery manufacturing and explored opportunities for new partnerships with Egyptian companies.
