The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the
two sides. It highlighted the new investment opportunities available through
the Egypt Upstream Gateway (EUG) for oil and gas exploration in both offshore
and onshore areas. The talks also addressed regional cooperation in developing
gas resources and making the best use of infrastructure. These efforts aim to
support Egypt’s plan to become a regional energy hub.
During the meeting, the Minister underlined the importance
of expanding cooperation with TotalEnergies. He said this supports the
Ministry’s strategy to maximize the use of Egypt’s oil and gas resources. He
also pointed to the goal of attracting new investments in open areas in both
Egypt and Cyprus, while leveraging Egypt’s infrastructure.
The Minister reaffirmed Egypt’s full support for the
expansion of TotalEnergies’ activities in the Eastern Mediterranean. He also
stressed the importance of speeding up joint regional projects in the gas
sector, which would contribute to greater integration in natural gas.
He added that the Ministry is committed to maintaining its
strategic partnership with TotalEnergies. He emphasized that efforts will
continue to address any challenges in order to create more opportunities for
investment and joint success in the coming period.
For his part, Breant expressed the company’s eagerness to
increase cooperation with Egypt. He highlighted the attractive investment
climate in the country’s oil and gas sector. He also noted that TotalEnergies
is keen to expand its operations in Egypt by developing untapped discoveries
and studying new opportunities in open areas. He said this will take place
within a favorable commercial and investment framework that enhances Egypt’s
competitiveness on the global exploration and production map.
