Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk discussed with a high-level Tunisian delegation led by Samir Majoul, head of the Tunisian Union of Industry, Trade, and Traditional Crafts, ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector. The meeting was also attended by Mohamed Ben Youssef, the Tunisian ambassador to Egypt, and Bassem Hassan, the Egyptian ambassador to Tunisia.

The discussions focused on boosting agricultural investments, exchanging expertise in land reclamation, and establishing joint agricultural projects. These projects would enhance the two countries' production capabilities, especially in cultivating olives, dates, and sugar beets, along with their related industries. They also explored the possibility of launching an integrated agricultural investment project in Egypt based on these crops and their industries.

Farouk underscored the deep historical ties between Egypt and Tunisia, emphasizing that the agricultural sector is a cornerstone for strengthening these relations through effective partnerships. He confirmed the ministry's readiness to provide all necessary technical support to the Tunisian side in various agricultural fields.

The Minister noted that Egypt's agricultural sector has undergone a major developmental boom in recent years, driven by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s unprecedented attention and continuous follow-up. He highlighted the launch of several large-scale integrated agricultural projects that have completely transformed Egypt's landscape and contributed to comprehensive and sustainable agricultural development.

The Tunisian delegation praised Egypt's efforts in developing its agricultural sector, particularly the massive agricultural development projects, and expressed Tunisia's keenness to benefit from Egypt's expertise. The head of the delegation affirmed the meeting's importance as a first step toward opening new horizons for fruitful cooperation, expressing their desire to partner with Egypt given its suitable infrastructure and expertise.

At the meeting's conclusion, it was agreed that the Tunisian delegation would conduct field visits within the next two days to inspect the sugar beet cultivation and production system and visit suitable sites for olive farming to begin immediate implementation.
