Globally, gold extended its strong performance in early
European trading on Friday, driven by expectations of a US interest rate cut.
Spot prices rose 0.2% to $3,551.57 per ounce, while December futures gained
0.1% to $3,609.12 per ounce. The metal also reached a record high of $3,578.80
per ounce this week, raising prospects of testing the $3,600 mark in the near
term.
Experts believe that gold remains a safe haven against
inflation and economic uncertainty, particularly amid heightened volatility in
energy and currency markets. Locally, prices remain subject to constant
intraday fluctuations, moving within an average range of EGP 15–20 up or down,
in addition to hallmarking fees, taxes, and manufacturing costs.
