Egypt’s agricultural exports reach 7 million tons

Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, announced that Egypt’s agricultural exports have reached about 7 million tons to date, an increase of more than 650,000 tons compared to the same period last year.

This came in an official report submitted by Dr. Mohamed El-Mansi, Head of the Central Administration of Agricultural Quarantine at the Agricultural Services and Monitoring Sector, highlighting key statistics on Egypt’s agricultural exports.

According to the report, citrus fruits topped the list of exports with more than 1.9 million tons, followed by fresh potatoes with over 1.3 million tons. Fresh onions ranked third with more than 250,000 tons, while beans (fresh and dry) came fourth with over 222,000 tons. Grapes ranked fifth with more than 180,000 tons.

The report also noted that other products that performed strongly this season include sweet potatoes, mangoes, fresh tomatoes, fresh garlic, pomegranates, strawberries, and guavas.

Farouk stressed that the continued surge in exports reflects the steady progress of the agricultural sector and its growing competitiveness in global markets. He reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to developing the sector, opening new markets for Egyptian products abroad, and adhering to the highest quality standards to ensure their global reach.

He emphasized that this success is driven by the combined efforts of farmers, producers, exporters, and regulatory bodies, led by the Agricultural Quarantine Authority, accredited reference laboratories, and the ministry’s foreign agricultural relations department. He added that the ministry will continue to provide support to boost production and exports, contributing to economic growth and food security.

Farouk added that this strong growth in exports is a positive indicator of the resilience of Egypt’s economy, as it helps increase foreign currency inflows and create new job opportunities across all stages of production and export.

Dr. Mohamed El-Mansi said the remarkable growth in exports is the result of adopting the latest international standards, which preserve the quality and reputation of Egyptian products worldwide, ensure smooth export procedures, and remove barriers. He added that this coincides with the opening of new markets and tighter monitoring through the implementation of the coding system in agricultural quarantine.
