Kuwaiti businessmen invited to discuss agricultural investment

Minister of Agriculture Alaa Farouk met with Mohamed Gaber Abul Wafa, Egypt's incoming ambassador to Kuwait, on Monday to outline potential areas of cooperation. Abul Wafa is scheduled to begin his new duties in the coming days. Farouk stressed the importance of joint coordination to enhance agricultural cooperation between Egypt and Kuwait.

The talks covered a number of proposed areas for collaboration in agriculture and food security, particularly agricultural investment. The minister noted that Egypt's agricultural sector is full of promising investment opportunities, encouraging Kuwaiti investors to explore land reclamation, poultry and fish farming, and agricultural processing.

Farouk said the Egyptian government has taken important steps to improve the overall investment climate, especially in agriculture and food security. He suggested inviting Kuwaiti investors and experts to visit Egypt to see the opportunities firsthand.

He added that Egypt also has technical expertise that can be shared with Kuwait, including in areas like pest and rodent control, veterinary vaccines and medicines, and livestock production.

The Minister emphasized strengthening Egyptian agricultural exports to Kuwait, particularly products that are in high demand in global markets. He suggested arranging a visit by a Kuwaiti delegation to review Egypt's horse quarantine system, given the recent development of that sector.

Ambassador Abul Wafa said he is committed to working to enhance cooperation in all fields between the two nations. He added that the agricultural sector will be a special priority during his tenure in Kuwait due to its importance in achieving food security. He praised the significant progress in Egypt's agricultural sector and the technical expertise that Kuwait can benefit from. Abul Wafa concluded that the main goal is to translate these discussions into tangible steps to increase trade and investment between the two countries.
