Rasha Abdel Aal, Head of the Tax Authority, confirmed that the “Tax Facilitations” approach, which focuses on building trust, partnership, and certainty with the business community, has boosted voluntary compliance and attracted new taxpayers. She noted that tax revenues reached EGP 2.2 trillion in the last fiscal year, up 35%, without introducing any new taxes or additional burdens.

Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Finance, held a press conference to announce the financial performance results for the past year, where Abdel Aal said that more than 141,000 taxpayers registered with the e-commerce unit, generating EGP 7.7 billion in voluntary tax revenues, up 84%. She added that 746,600 taxpayers registered for value-added tax (VAT), while more than 805,000 registered for income tax.

Abdel Aal highlighted that treasury bills and bonds generated EGP 290.3 billion in tax revenues, marking 81% growth, while securities contributed EGP 26.1 billion, up 43.6%. She also noted that 3.2 billion e-invoices and e-receipts were issued during the fiscal year.

She added that EGP 10 billion in tax revenues were collected from dispute settlements, real estate transactions, and unlisted securities, with efforts ongoing to integrate entities across government to enhance tax governance. She said that e-filing revenues for 2024 reached EGP 177.4 billion, recording 107% growth.

She stated that VAT refunds reached EGP 7.6 billion, a 200% increase, while the risk management system collected EGP 12.2 billion in tax revenues by the end of June. She pointed out that 152,400 taxpayers benefited from the maximum cap on late payment fees and additional taxes worth EGP 17 billion.
