The Minister's remarks followed a site visit to the Diyarna residential project, which aims to provide about 60,000 units in 2,310 buildings across 23 cities under the New Urban Communities Authority. The first phase includes 23,842 units, with some cities already reaching 35% completion. New October City has the most advanced progress.
Mohamed Abdel Maqsoud, head of the New October City
Development Authority, said that 494 residential units are currently under
construction within the project. Despite work only beginning in April 2025, the
project is already 51% complete. He noted that the buildings are located in the
"Sakan Misr El Waha" area, where infrastructure and services are
already in place.
Abdel Maqsoud highlighted the rapid development of New
October City, which was established by presidential decree in 2017. He pointed
out that the city is undergoing a major urban boom with several large-scale
housing projects, including:
151,080 low-income units, including 599 residential
buildings as part of the “Green Housing” initiative.
4,236 completed units in the “Sakan Misr” project.
The first phase of the “Diyarna” project, a new addition to
the middle-income housing system.
The Minister confirmed that these efforts are part of the ministry’s comprehensive urban development plan to provide modern, fully-serviced housing units that meet the needs and aspirations of future generations.
