The initiative follows directives from Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly to secure mobile slaughterhouses to handle livestock in areas that lack permanent facilities and to process imported cattle in border regions. This aims to ensure the availability of safe meat for citizens.
The contract was signed by Dr. Said Helmy, head of the
ministry's Strategic Management and Local Development Sector, and Amr Moustafa
Abdo, chairman of the company's board. Each mobile unit will measure 12 meters
long, 2.4 meters wide, and 4 meters high, and will be equipped with a
mechanical rotary slaughter box, a skinning device, and a hanging line. The
units will include all necessary lifting and handling equipment, adhering to
the highest technical standards.
Awad emphasized the ministry's commitment to providing
healthy and safe meat, especially in remote and border areas, while enhancing
oversight of the slaughtering process. She noted that the mobile units are a
cost-effective solution compared to building permanent slaughterhouses and will
help control the quality of imported livestock.
The Minister also underscored the government's comprehensive
plan to upgrade all public slaughterhouses nationwide in coordination with
relevant ministries. She highlighted that animal husbandry is a key strategic
sector for providing affordable food and ensuring a stable supply of goods for
all citizens.
Awad urged the contracting company to expedite the project and ensure the units are delivered on time and to the highest standards.
