The Industrial Modernization Center (IMC) organized site
visits with the ITA team to engage directly with industrial operators across
Egypt. The agenda included a meeting with Dr. Ali Abu Senna, CEO of the
Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA), along with visits to multiple
cement plants and meetings with representatives of the Suez Canal Economic Zone
(SCZone). Delegates also met with members of the GFANZ Alliance to explore
collaboration in reducing emissions and developing sustainable industrial technologies
that support Egypt’s green economy.
The Industrial Transition Accelerator (ITA) identified Egypt
as a priority country for industrial decarbonization. The initiative was
officially launched during the COP28 Climate Summit in the UAE in 2023, with
support from the UN High-Level Expert Group on Net-Zero Emissions Commitments.
The UAE Government and Bloomberg Philanthropies provide key
support for the accelerator, alongside global industry leaders such as General
Electric, Siemens, and BlackRock.
The ITA initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of clean
technologies by expanding access to green finance, promoting supportive policy
frameworks, and strengthening public-private partnerships. The goal is to
accelerate global progress toward sustainable industrial transformation and a
low-carbon economy.
