Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly chaired a meeting today, Sunday, to review the availability of medicines and medical supplies, as well as the latest developments related to the payment of dues owed to pharmaceutical companies.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, and Dr. Hisham Steit, Chairman of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply, and Technology Management.

Dr. Madbouly reiterated the government’s continued efforts to ensure the availability of essential medicines and medical supplies through both local production and imports. These efforts aim to maintain a secure stockpile, meet national healthcare demands, and ensure greater stability in the delivery of health services across the country’s medical facilities.

He also highlighted Egypt’s commitment to supporting the pharmaceutical industry by offering a wide range of incentives and facilitations to attract both foreign and domestic investment. The state continues to promote localization, technology transfer, and integration of advanced global practices within this strategic sector to meet domestic demand, increase exports, and expand into new markets—leveraging Egypt’s strong capabilities and potential.

Cabinet Spokesman Counselor Mohamed El-Homsany stated that the meeting reviewed the financial position of the Unified Procurement Authority and the status of outstanding dues to supplier companies.

The Prime Minister directed all government entities to expedite the settlement of debts owed to the Authority to ensure sufficient financial resources for procurement operations and to enable the Authority to fulfill its obligations to pharmaceutical companies and continue delivering on its mandate effectively.
