SCZone seeks strategic partnership with Panama in logistics services

Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), met on Tuesday morning with Ricardo Isaza, Panama’s Ambassador to Egypt, at the Authority’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation in maritime transport, logistics services, and targeted industrial sectors.

Gamal El-Din welcomed the ambassador’s visit and said the meeting reflects the Authority’s commitment to expanding international cooperation and opening up to new markets to support the zone’s integration across various industrial sectors and reinforce global supply chains. He stressed the importance of strengthening economic and investment ties with Latin American countries, particularly Panama.

The SCZone Chairman also reviewed investment opportunities within the economic zone and highlighted its competitive advantages, including its strategic location, its advanced infrastructure, and its integration between ports and industrial areas. He noted that the Authority prioritises cooperation in key sectors, especially maritime and logistics services, given their central role in supporting the zone’s vision as a global trade and logistics hub.

Isaza expressed his appreciation for the fruitful discussions and underlined Panama’s interest in strengthening ties with the SCZone and taking advantage of available opportunities. He said the Panama Canal and the SCZone are both vital global trade hubs that could serve as a model for integration across international supply chains.

The meeting is part of a series of promotional activities organised by the SCZone with diplomatic missions and major international companies and institutions to showcase investment opportunities and build strategic partnerships in priority sectors.
