Chinese business delegation explores investment in SCZone

Mr. Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), received a high-level Chinese trade delegation on Sunday at the Authority’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.

The delegation was led by Mr. Li Xin, Vice President of the China National Garment Association (CNGA), and included 15 representatives from sub-federations and leading textile and garment manufacturers from cities including Qingdao, Ningbo, Yiwu, Xiamen, and Shanghai.

The visit comes as part of ongoing cooperation between SCZone and the Egyptian Commercial Representation Authority to attract foreign direct investment. Several senior SCZone executives attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Mr. Gamal El-Din reviewed the investment landscape across SCZone’s industrial zones, highlighting their competitive advantages for foreign investors. He emphasized the strategic importance of the textile sector in the Authority’s plans, citing its role in achieving industrial integration and strengthening local manufacturing from spinning and weaving to finished products. He also noted that the Authority’s recent promotional tour in China demonstrated rising investor confidence in Egypt and opened the door for further industrial partnerships.

He added that SCZone has allocated dedicated areas for textile investments in the Qantara West, which currently hosts 21 Chinese projects in spinning and weaving. The Ain Sokhna Industrial Zone also houses 18 companies in the same sector. These figures reflect the zone’s attractiveness to international textile manufacturers, supported by advanced infrastructure, investment incentives, competitive energy prices, and a skilled workforce.

Mr. Li Xin expressed his appreciation for the visit, noting that the delegation aimed to assess available opportunities, incentives, and suitable zones for textile and garment investment. He praised SCZone’s strong reputation among Chinese investors, particularly its one-stop-shop services, and confirmed the growing interest of Chinese textile companies in expanding to Egypt.

The visit follows SCZone’s successful promotional tour in China, which included visits to several key cities and industrial hubs.
