The new record surpasses last year's highest load of 38,000 megawatts. The surge comes amid significantly higher temperatures and humidity, leading to unusual increases in daily consumption for this time of year.
The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy stated that
the grid successfully managed the unprecedented load, passing a critical test.
In response to the heightened demand, the ministry has
placed the entire electricity system — from generation to transmission and
distribution — on high alert. Emergency, technical support, monitoring, and
maintenance teams have been intensified. Centralized teams have also been
formed at the company level for rapid intervention and operational support.
Additionally, occupational health and safety teams, alongside inspection committees from the ministry and the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company, are continuously monitoring the network. These measures are part of an ongoing plan to ensure the grid's security and stability, secure electricity supply, and maintain continuous power flow.
