Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty met with Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye during his visit to Dakar, where he delivered a written message from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. The message underscored the special nature of bilateral relations, Egypt’s appreciation for the historical and fraternal ties between the two peoples, and Cairo’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Senegal across various sectors.

Abdelatty  conveyed President El-Sisi’s greetings and appreciation, praising the longstanding and growing ties between the two countries, both bilaterally and within the framework of joint African cooperation. He noted that the visit coincides with the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, affirming Egypt’s pride in the depth of its relationship with Senegal.

The Minister emphasized that Egypt considers Senegal a strategic partner in West Africa, highlighting the convergence of views on regional and international issues, and the ongoing coordination in multilateral forums to defend African interests and promote continental unity. He also commended Senegal’s balanced regional policies and constructive role in West Africa.

Abdelatty  added that he was accompanied by a high-level delegation of 30 Egyptian business leaders, reflecting the political will to elevate economic relations. The delegation included representatives of major Egyptian companies and national entities operating in agriculture, industry, construction, energy, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and information technology.

He affirmed Egyptian companies’ interest in expanding their presence in the Senegalese market, expressing readiness to provide technical support, transfer expertise, and help localize complementary industries, enhancing Senegal’s ability to make optimal use of its natural and human resources. He also reiterated Egypt’s full support for President Faye’s ambitious development plans aimed at boosting the national economy and achieving sustainable development.

The two sides also discussed developments in the Sahel and West Africa. Abdelatty  stressed the importance of a comprehensive approach to combating terrorism and organized crime, combining security measures with efforts to counter extremist ideologies and promote development as a foundation for stability.

President Faye, in turn, asked that his greetings and appreciation be conveyed to President El-Sisi. He expressed pride in the strong relations between the two countries and commended Egypt’s leading role in supporting African issues. He also affirmed Senegal’s commitment to continued coordination with Egypt at both bilateral and continental levels, and to intensifying cooperation in international forums to serve mutual interests and promote African unity.
