The General Authority for Healthcare was represented by a
senior delegation that included Dr. Ahmed Hammad, Advisor to the Chairman for
Health Policy and Systems and Director General of Strategic Planning; Dr.
Mahmoud El-Deeb, Deputy Executive Director for Planning and Health Mapping and
Director of the Technical Office; Dr. Ahmed El-Barai, Deputy Executive Director
for Technical Affairs and Follow-up and Director General of the Executive
Director’s Office; Dr. Heba Oweida, Director General of Research and Development;
Dr. Mohamed Badr, Director General of Secondary and Tertiary Care; Dr. Mohamed
Abu El-Magd, Director of Events and Visual Identity; and Dr. Maha Said,
Director of the Pharmacovigilance Unit.
The Janssen delegation included Dr. Hatem Dawood, Market
Access Manager at Johnson and Johnson; Dr. Mohamed Abdel Maksoud, Director of
Strategic Accounts; and Dr. Sherif Abdel-Gawad, Director of Public and
Government Affairs.
Ahmed El-Sobky announced an agreement to establish a Center
of Excellence for Oncology in Aswan Governorate in cooperation with Janssen.
The initiative includes the launch of an Integrated Practice Unit designed to
deliver advanced specialty care in line with international models of integrated
healthcare. A digital platform will also be developed to provide medical teams
across the Authority with real-time access to the latest updates in treatment
protocols and medical innovations.
The partnership is set to introduce advanced therapies in
key areas such as oncology, immunology, mental health, and rare diseases. It
will focus on localizing treatment protocols, supporting clinical research, and
applying evidence-based care models to improve patient outcomes and raise the
quality of healthcare services.
Capacity building has been established as a core component
of the collaboration. Medical and administrative staff will receive targeted
training in communication, innovative treatment techniques, digital
transformation, and the use of artificial intelligence in clinical practice.
This initiative contributes to the Authority’s broader strategy for developing
smart and sustainable healthcare systems.
The cooperation extends to support Egypt’s medical tourism
initiative under the We Care in Egypt brand. Agreements include providing
comprehensive treatment packages for complex and rare conditions to attract
international patients while also meeting domestic healthcare needs.
Ahmed El-Sobky invited the Janssen delegation to visit the
Virtual Care Hospital in Ismailia and the National Center for Health Data
Science and Artificial Intelligence Applications. The center has been
positioned as a regional hub for digital innovation and health technology.
Janssen’s regional leadership expressed strong interest in
expanding cooperation and praised the rapid progress in Egypt’s healthcare
infrastructure. The company reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the
delivery of high-quality, innovative healthcare services in Egypt, with a
particular focus on oncology, immunology, mental health, scientific research,
and capacity development.
