Health Authority, Orange Egypt discuss digital transformation

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, head of Egypt's General Authority for Healthcare, met with Dr. Hisham Mahran, CEO of Orange Egypt, at the authority's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to discuss enhancing cooperation in telecommunications and digital transformation.

The meeting focused on leveraging technology to improve healthcare services, promote innovation, and align with Egypt's sustainable development goals. Discussions included the potential for virtual medical care and remote telemedicine, drawing on European experiences.

A key point of discussion was the technological support for the virtual hospital in Ismailia, with plans to connect it to medical facilities in other African countries. El-Sobky highlighted that the Ismailia Virtual Hospital is the first of its kind in Africa, the third in the Arab world, and the largest in the Middle East in terms of capabilities.

Both parties also explored using artificial intelligence and training health coders. They also addressed improving communication in remote areas and enhancing patient interaction and appointment management through SMS.

El-Sobky emphasized that the authority plans significant strategic partnerships with the private sector to develop healthcare in Egypt.

Dr. Hisham Mahran expressed Orange Egypt's commitment to supporting the state's technological transformation efforts, particularly in healthcare, citing the company's strong capabilities in this area.

Orange Egypt attendees included Sales Director Amgad Wahby, Senior Sales Manager Hossam Hegazy, Sales Manager Karim Mohamed, Supervisor of Communication with Government Channels Mina Milad, and Telecommunications Advisor Ahmed Noah.

From the General Authority for Healthcare, attendees included Dr. Ahmed Hammad, Advisor for Health Policies and Systems, Dr. Gamal Ratba, Advisor for Actuarial and Financial Studies, Major Gen. Hisham Shendi, Advisor for E-health and Telemedicine, Dr. Momen El Ashmawy, Advisor for Strategic Projects, and Dr. Mahmoud El Deeb, Assistant Executive Director for Planning and Health Maps.
