The decision aligns with directives from President Abdel
Fattah El-Sisi for the government to take necessary measures to close the
Regional Ring Road in areas undergoing efficiency upgrades and maintenance. The
aim is to ensure public safety and accelerate project completion, with
appropriate and safe alternative routes being put in place.
The extension follows an on-site inspection of the
development project by Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime
Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport. He
was accompanied by Major General Magdy Abdel Hamid, Deputy Minister of
Transport for Land Transport and supervisor of the Regional Ring Road
development, and Major General Tarek Abdel Gawad, head of the General Authority
for Roads and Bridges.
Several engineering professors from Ain Shams and Zagazig
Universities were also present, including Professor Dr. Hassan Mahdy (Professor
of Roads, Ain Shams University, and Vice Chairman of the Permanent Committee
for the Egyptian Road Code), Professor Dr. Khaled Qandil (Professor of Roads,
Ain Shams University), Dr. Emad Nabil (Road Consultant), and Dr. Abdel Rahman
El-Baz (Lecturer of Road and Traffic Engineering, Zagazig University).
The continued closure is necessary to reinforce, improve, and enhance the efficiency of traffic control and safety measures for temporary diversions, as well as to maintain these diversions and increase directional signage.
